* Sep 5 - Farmers Market (Ravalli Fair Weekend) in Hamilton
* Sep 26 - Farmers Market in Hamilton
* Nov 1 - Deadline for adding your listing for the November print directory.
* Nov 19 - Potluck - Little Blue Joint in Darby 6-8pm
We will have quarterly instead of monthly potlucks which make it easier for folks to attend. We will also distribute the updated directories at the potlucks. We will announce the date, time, and location of the potluck as soon as we schedule it. The potlucks will be in Nov, Feb, May, Aug. Our next one is November 19th and we’ll send another email with the time and place.
The newest print directory will be available at the November 19th potluck. If you’d like to make changes or add listings, please submit your listings by November 1st. Use the add/change form or mail us the changes to P.O. Box 584, Darby, Montana 59829.
We need more places to distribute the print directory in Sula, Corvallis, Stevensville, and Florence. If you would like to volunteer to ask businesses to carry the directory in these locations please let us know and well get you some extra copies of the directory. Currently the directories are located at:
Darby
- The Little Blue Joint Restaurant
- Suzanne’s Silver Spoon Restaurant
Hamilton
- Flower Happy
- Wild About Pets
Our original plan to produce printed directories was twice a year (Nov and May). But since we have so many new sign-ups and interest (yay!) we’re currently printing more often - about every three months. This works out with our new Potluck schedule, but we might switch back to twice-a-year printing in the future.
Semi-annual dues will be due in November to relist in the directory. The fee is $5. You may pay at the Potluck on Nov 19th, send a check by mail (made to RC&D), or online at the website via PayPal.
We’d like to add a “success stories” page to the website. If you have any great stories of the transactions that you’ve made using the directory or the Barter hOURs please send us your story!

Just a reminder about the potluck event in the Darby park at 6:30pm. Joan Zen will provide live music and we will issue your hOURs and directories to you. Want to see the print directory now? Download your copy at http://bitterrootbarter.com/files/barterbooklet.pdf - it’s available now!
We’re still asking for more items for the raffle - just bring them to the event if you’d like to donate. You can also buy raffle tickets tomorrow. Bring your favorite dish (electricity provided) for the potluck.
Also, we plan on attending the next Farmers Market in Hamilton on the 27th.

Potluck and Music Event - Wednesday, June 24 from 6:00-8:30 in the Darby Town Park. Joan Zen will provide entertainment for our first potluck meeting. Please bring a dish (electricity available) and your dancing shoes and questions about the Bitterroot Barter. Spread the word and encourage folks to attend this event and sign-up (you get extra hOURs for referrals)!
Get Your hOURs - We will distribute hOURs (our local currency) and the first print directory at our potluck meeting in Darby on the 24th. No one has hOURs yet and this will be the first time anyone receives them. If you can’t make it to this meeting we will mail your directory and hOURs shortly after the 24th.
Raffle Drawing - Tickets will be drawn at the potluck event for raffle items. Raffle items include gift baskets, wall hangings, barter hOURs, gift certificates, goji juice, and more. If you’d like to buy raffle tickets or donate items for raffle, please contact Marj at 821-0890. Tickets are $1 each or six for $5.
Website Changes - We’ve added a box to sign up for email updates for anyone interested in our news and progress but not interested in signing up as a member (see left side of website). We’ve added a “recently added” section to the left sidebar with links to the most recent directory listings.
Categories - We’ve changed the directory categories from broad to specific by popular demand.
Directory - The print directory is currently being assembled and finalized to go to print. It will be ready at the potluck meeting.
Business Advertising - We’re offering business advertising in the directory. The advertisements will be business-card size and cost $25 each. We have room for eight ads on a first come first served basis. You may scan your business card or design your own ad as you wish.
Volunteers - We’re still looking for volunteers to take some of the burden of administrative tasks from the board members. Please see our volunteer page for a list of things you can do to help out.
Not Listed? Please contact us if you filled out a membership application or submitted the sign-up form online but don’t see your listing in the online directory.
Thanks to everyone for being patient as we create this great community project. We’ve been working hard to put this project together and we appreciate all the help and support that the community has given us.

We printed Bitterroot hOURs (the local currency) and we’re cutting, stamping, embossing and sorting it now. We’re slowly adding (please bear with us) all the listings from everyone who filled out the membership application or submitted the sign-up form online. We expect to post all the listings online by the middle of next week.
We scheduled our next community potluck meeting for Wednesday, June 24th in Darby at the gazebo in the city park. We plan to issue the hOURs and print directories at this meeting, but if you can’t make it we will mail them to you.
We set a deadline for getting listed in the first print directory. Please sign up with your listing if you haven’t already done so by June 8th.
We added a page on this site for additional listings (add/change form). We also added more items to the wanted section.
One of our goals is to have a representative in each town in the valley. These folks would share in the administrative duties and provide help directly in their town. Please contact us if you’d like to volunteer to represent your town - we need folks from Sula, Hamilton, Corvallis, Victor, Stevi, Florence, and Lolo.
We need some help! We want to draw raffle tickets on our June 24 meeting. We need raffle tickets, more raffle items and possibly someone to head up and take charge of organizing the raffle. Also, we want to attend as many Farmers Markets as possible, but we need volunteers to man the booth.
